Egyptian Cotton has a History of Quality

Egyptian cotton is a made from a type of extra-long staple cotton that is grown in Egypt. There are many types of long staple cotton, but few are as luxurious as Egyptian cotton, also called Egyptian Giza. Even at lower thread counts, the softness is still greater than that of higher thread counts made from regular cotton. There is a long and storied history behind Egyptian cotton, which changed the face of Egypt forever.

Egyptian cotton comes from the plant gossypium barbadense, which has longer threads than most cotton and produces softer fibers than those of other cotton. The plant was grown for centuries in the Egyptian delta, but it wasn't until a Frenchman by the name of Jumel came to town that it was turned into the product we know today. Jumel convinced the Egyptian government to begin the widespread planting and harvesting of the plant in 1822 and sold the resulting cotton for a fixed price. The Europeans soon took notice of the luxurious material and began buying as well.

By the mid-1800s, Egyptians were borrowing money from European banks to further produce the cotton and though the interest rates were high, the cotton sold at a price that kept them afloat. The introduction of the roller gin and credit to Egypt's struggling economy helped improve the life of many Egyptians.

Today, many luxury bed linen makers use Egyptian cotton because it is so soft and durable; the length of the threads ensures that anything made with them is strong and will last a long time.

High Quality Bed Sheets May Be the Answer to a Better Night's Sleep

Even the most comfortable mattresses aren't complete without the right bed sheets.  While many people believe that a soft mattress, pillows and comforters make all the difference when it comes to comfort; it's really about the sheets.  Of course, those other things do matter.  In fact, no bed can even truly be complete without them.  However, the best bed sheets are often overlooked when shoppers select their ideal bedroom set.

While sheets with a lesser thread count are often desirable for their lower cost, they're also less comfortable as well.  Most people will spare little to no expense to ensure that they purchase a great mattress, but without great bed sheets, even a great mattress is hard to fully enjoy.  Higher thread count sheets are always a wise investment for anyone looking for a good night's sleep.

Although some may not fully realize or appreciate the value of soft, high-thread count bed sheets, those who have experienced them understand the difference they make.  There are hundreds of options for those in the market for new sheets.  Whether just as a replacement or as part of an entirely new bedroom set, shoppers should know that high quality bed sheets are the deciding factor when it comes to a relaxing sleep experience.

Bedroom Decorating Tips: Create a Perfect Place for Relaxation

The bedroom is a sanctuary. No matter how hectic or stressful things get in your life, you can count on the fact that your bedroom is a place for rest and relaxation.

In any bedroom, comfort is the ultimate goal. You want to feel at-home and relaxed there, and there are a number of items and accessories you can use in your bedroom to make it feel like their own perfect island of relaxation. Maybe a special pillow, a duvet cover, or a luxury comforter is just the thing you need to make your bedroom your favorite place in the house to be.

Regardless of how you decorate, you want to be comfortable and enjoy your surroundings. Making the room yours means that you have the opportunity to show off your style. Everyone has their own way of setting up a bedroom, but here are some hints and tips to make your room perfect for your needs:

  • Don’t clutter your bedroom. Stay organized! This means that clothing and dresser tops should stay clear of any messes and things that shouldn’t be there. Paperwork, bills, and other stressful items of clutter should not have to live in your bedroom – that’s what an office is for.
  • Using a luxury comforter and other quality bedding like oversized pillows can make you feel surrounded by comfort and relaxation. In addition to comfort, matching or complimentary bed sheets and pillow cases can allow you to bring a sense of your style to the bed.
  • Even as society becomes more modern, the" old-time" look of years past is still a model of high class. Bring some class to your room with matching wooden furniture. Typically, bedrooms are decorated with deep tones and colors, so majestic-looking wood furniture should fit right in.
Use these easy tips to make your bedroom just that: yours. Remember, everyone has a different taste in decorating, but the one aspect of a bedroom that is universal is the bed. You should always keep in mind is that your bed is the focal point and the most important aspect of the room, so even if you don't want to conduct an all-out bedroom transformation, the least you can do is get yourself a beautiful luxury comforter and some soft and snuggly bed sheets you can relax in.

Deciding between 1500 Thread Count Sheets or Egyptian Cotton Sheets?

A little lost in the fort of Egyptian cotton sheets?  What really distinguishes them from regular 1500 thread count sheets? Those of you who believe there are more important things in life to spend your money on than bed sheets, could probably not care less about how many threads there are in the fabric you sleep on every night. You will most likely also never have an extremely good night's sleep, where you bed feels more like a soft and fluffy cloud, rather than that of a polyester-coated giant sponge.

Now, you may think that this is complete nonsense. So, let us try to change your mind by explaining how this all works. At Exceptional Sheets, we specialize in Egyptian cotton sheets. These sheets are made from a certain type of cotton that originates from (surprise) Egypt. These cotton plants have longer fibers, which give the final fabric a softer feel than that of your regular 1500 thread count sheets. The general assumption is that the higher the thread count the softer the sheet. A higher thread count is also associated with a more comfortable feeling, since the sheets become more breathable. However, as soon as you have fallen for the feel of Egyptian cotton sheets, you may have a hard time going back to sleeping on normal sheets again, no matter how high their thread count may be.

Taking Care of High Thread Count Sheets and Other Sheet Sets

Would you rather sleep on a cloud or bed of straw? The answer here is pretty obvious, but you wouldn't know that from the way some people take care of their sheet sets.Whether you have bargain brand low thread count sheets or nigh high thread count sheets, the attention you give to caring for your sheets can determine the comfort level, their durability, and their cleanliness.

One of the easiest ways to take good care of your bed sheets is to read the wash instructions provided on the sheets. Certain high thread count sheets may include different washing instructions than the average sheet sets. Water temperature, wash cycle, and drying method can all contribute to maintaining the integrity of the fabric. Much like nice sweaters, high quality fabric sheets can't just be washed on normal and dried on high in the dryer. Improper washing or drying can cause colors to fade and sheets to toughen, lessening their comfort level, and in turn shortening their usable life. Read your care instructions to determine the best washing method and hang dry your sheets whenever possible for best results.

Taking good care of your sheet sets can preserve comfort and save you money. It is estimated that the average person spends one third of their lifetime in bed, so shouldn't that time be spent on comfortable high thread count sheets? It doesn't take a whole lot of effort to do, and the result can be very satisfying.
